SIL Apparatus Font Download

NRSI staff, 2002-11-25

Apparatus and Unicode

This SIL Apparatus Font System is a pre-Unicode or “legacy” font system. These fonts are superseded by the Unicode-encoded Apparatus SIL.

Table of Contents for this web page:

Downloading and Installing the Windows Package

To download the full package click on the link below. The download file (SILAPFON.EXE) is a self-extracting archive. After the download is complete use File Manager or Explorer to select the drive icon where the SILAPFON.EXE file is located. Find SILAPFON.EXE in the directory window and double-click on it. This will extract the files to the current directory. (In the Windows 3.1 File Manager you may need to press  F5  to update the directory screen).

Once the files are decompressed, look in the newly created SILAPFON directory for the Users Guide (APPGUIDE.PDF). Follow the instructions in this document to install the SIL Apparatus Fonts. Note that you will need  Adobe Acrobat to read the Users Guide.

If your utility has not already decompressed the contents of the archive, double-click on it. This will create a new folder on your hard drive named “SIL Apparatus Fonts”. Look in this folder for the SIL Apparatus Users Guide. Follow the instructions in this document to install the fonts. Note that you will need  Adobe Acrobat to read the Users Guide.
