SIL Dai Banna Fonts and Unicode

The SIL Dai Banna Fonts are pre-Unicode or “legacy” fonts which were originally released by SIL in 2000. These fonts have been superseded by the Unicode-encoded Dai Banna SIL Fonts.

Downloading and Installing the Windows Package

To download the full package (including the fonts, keyboard and documentation) click on the link below. The download file (SILDB.EXE) is a self-extracting archive. After the download is complete use File Manager or Explorer to select the drive icon where the SILDB.EXE file is located. Find SILDB.EXE in the directory window and double-click on it. This will extract the files to the current directory. (In the Windows 3.1 File Manager you may need to press F5 to update the directory screen).

Once the files are decompressed, look in the newly created SILDB directory for the Users Guide (UGUIDE.PDF). Follow the instructions in this document to install the fonts and keyboard. Note that you will need  Free Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the Users Guide.

The original keyboards were written for Keyman 3.2 and do not function with Keyman 5 or 6. No corrections or additions have been made to these keyboards. They do not use Unicode.
