SIL Hebrew Font System Download (Obsolete)

NRSI staff, 2004-04-28

Ezra and Unicode

This SIL Hebrew Font System is a pre-Unicode or “legacy” font system. It provides a means of working with biblical Hebrew texts in an encoding created by SIL in 1995. These fonts are superceded by Unicode-encoded Hebrew fonts, such as Ezra SIL.

The transliteration fonts in this package were made obsolete with the advent of Latin Unicode fonts, available with any newer OS. Only a keyboard is helpful (not required) for typing Hebrew transliteration. See last item in Ezra SIL package or Hebrew-Greek Transliteration Unicode Keyboard for Macintosh for two examples.

A number of other software packages are needed for use with the SIL Hebrew Font System.

To All Users: Do not download this software without first reading this first.

If you wish to continue after reading the above, you should now obtain and install the following (free) software:

Select one of the following platforms to continue with download instructions:

The Windows Package (Obsolete)

We recommend you browse this information before you download the package.

The SIL Hebrew Font System is a self-extracting archive. To download,

The Macintosh Package (Obsolete)

We recommend you browse this information before you download the package.

The SIL Hebrew Font System is a self-extracting archive. The download file will be either a MacBinary (.bin) or BinHex file (.hqx). Use Stuffit Expander or a similar utility to decode the file. Hopefully, your web browser already has one. If you’re not sure, try downloading the package first. If it doesn’t decompress (create a folder named “SIL Hebrew v1.0”), here is a site with instructions for getting one  Getting Stuffit Expander.
