This version supports Unicode 5.1!
Note
In this font, the 17 of our PUA characters that were added to Unicode 5.1 are accessible by both the PUA
and Unicode codepoints. This is the only change in this release. No new characters,
glyphs or features were added.

Note
This font fixes a bug which was in version 4.100: In InDesign and XeTeX (and probably any other application which uses true small caps) the OpenType small cap feature will not work properly, nor will any application-specific fallback mechanism. This release fixes it so that the fallback mechanism will work (e.g. they will not be true small caps, they will be created on-the-fly). This is the only change in this release.

These fonts are identical to the main Charis SIL fonts, except that the default forms for 'a' and 'g' have been changed to those often preferred by literacy specialists - single-story 'a' and single-bowl 'g'. Note the following:
- OpenType and Graphite features may not work as expected, and particularly those that interact with the Literacy Alternates feature.
- Diacritic placement may not be ideal in some cases, although we've tried to be sure that this works in most situations.
- This font is a one-off special version, and is not likely to be updated alongside future versions of Charis SIL.
- This font is also released under the SIL Open Font License, but we strongly encourage you to use the main Charis SIL release as the source for any derivative versions.
If you encounter problems, your best solution is to use the main Charis SIL font release.

Charis SIL 4.0.02 (public beta 2) (Version 4.002)
Beta Release Note:
This is not the official release of this font although it has been tested internally and is highly functional. This is a public beta release. Please do not redistribute this public beta font.
This public beta includes the following changes:
- Smaller diaeresis when used in combination with modifier (superscript) characters (works for OpenType now)
- Slant italic specials: (special italic versions of U+007A LATIN SMALL LETTER Z, U+00E3 LATIN SMALL LETTER A WITH TILDE and U+1EA1 LATIN SMALL LETTER A WITH DOT BELOW were added) (fixed issue: fi, ffi, fl, ffl, ff ligatures now work)
- Superscript and Subscript metrics changed (this was a problem in FieldWorks)
- Moved “space” to glyph ID 3 to conform to Apple’s font specifications (fixes incorrect line breaks in some OS X applications, and it also fixes incorrect text alignment/justification for certain lines of text in XeTeX)
