SIL Vai Font Requirements

Note:

These fonts are still custom (legacy) 8-bit fonts. They are not Unicode fonts. We do not recommend that you use the SIL Vai font. However, we do provide links to some Unicode resources below:

Unicode Fonts: — Two Vai Unicode fonts are available here. Dukor is based on SIL Vai. Windows 7 provides a Unicode font with Vai support called Ebrima.
Unicode Keyboards: — A Windows Keyman keyboard is available here: Known Unicode Keyman Keyboards. A MacOSX keyboard is available here.
TECkit mapping files for converting SIL Vai text to Unicode are provided here.

The SIL Vai fonts are not Unicode fonts. These fonts were designed for the following systems:

Windows 98
Windows 95
Windows 3.1

The fonts will also work in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The keyboard has been tested in WinME and WinXP. It has not been tested on other systems, but it should work.

Windows users will also need the Keyman keyboarding utility. It is not included in the SIL Vai Fonts package and must be downloaded separately.

Both Macintosh and Windows users will need the Free Adobe Acrobat Reader to read and print the documentation.
