How to Draft a TECkit Mapping

using Encore2Unicode

Joan Wardell, 2005-10-05

Goal of this procedure

In this procedure, you will create a draft TECkit mapping using the Encore2Unicode program.

This step is part of the procedure How to Write a Conversion Mapping for your Legacy Font.

Create the mapping

You should have a copy of your legacy font in your work folder and a shortcut called "E2U TECkit" on your desktop. If not, see How to Setup Your Computer to do a Conversion Mapping.

  1. Drag the legacy font from your work folder and drop it on the E2U TECkit shortcut.
  2. Press the Return or  Enter  key when you see the instruction on the screen to "press Return to exit".
  3. This will create two files in your work folder. The one with the .map extension is your draft TECkit mapping.
