How to Identify an Encore Font

Goal of this procedure

This procedure explains how to identify if your font was created using the SIL Encore font package.

Procedure

If you haven't already, review the webpage How to Identify Legacy and Other Fonts, including installing the Microsoft Font Properties Extension.

1. Go to your Fonts folder. It is likely called C:WindowsFonts. Use your desktop shortcut, if you have one.
2. Find and right-click your font name.
3. Select Properties.
4. Click the Version tab.
5. Look for something similar to this (dates and version numbers may vary).

This font was created with SIL Encore Font Compiler

Since it says SIL Encore Font Compiler this is an Encore font. You can easily create a draft TECkit mapping of this font using the Encore2Unicode software. The Encore2Unicode program does not read fonts not created by Encore.
